Melinda Smith

Melinda Smith won the 2014 Prime Minister's Literary Award for her fourth poetry collection, Drag down to unlock or place an emergency call (Pitt St Poetry, 2013). Her work has been widely anthologised, both in Australia and overseas, and she has appeared at the Sydney and Newcastle Writers Festivals and the Queensland Poetry Festival. She likes to collaborate with artists working in other creative disciplines, and is also interested in text-based poetic forms and in computer-assisted poem making. Her next poetry collection will be out later this year from Pitt St Poetry. She is based in the ACT and is currently poetry editor of The Canberra Times.
